The Invasive Species in Ireland Forum is a diverse partnership of more than 60 organisations. Individuals and organisations are encouraged to join the Forum and learn more about invasive species and how to prevent and reduce their impact.
Click here to join the mailing list and receive information about the Invasive Species in Ireland Programme.
Effective prevention and response to problematic invasive species requires co-operation and commitment from as many organisations and individuals as possible. The purpose of the partnership is to establish a network which provides members and government with effective tools to combat invasive alien species and increases awareness of the problems and solutions.
Forum members are encouraged to sign up to the partnership principles. Management of invasive species is a shared problem that requires cooperation and support of a diverse range of stakeholders and interest groups. The principles are outlined here. If you have any suggestions or comments on the principles please Contact Us.
Each organisation/group/individual is asked to pledge to effectively tackle invasive species by looking at their own practices and responsibilities. Only by acting locally and thinking about how our actions can impact on a wider scale will we start to reduce the spread of invasive alien species.
Codes of Practice are currently being drafted for the Horticulture and Aquaculture sectors and also for Freshwater Users and Marina Operators. If you would like more information on these or would like to contribute to their development please contact Cathy Maguire or John Kelly. Alterntively you cay navigate to the Codes of Practice page located in the Download section of this website.
